Hand-drawn and hand-painted portraits of some Japanese Folk Toys. Originally produced back to 6th century in China and Japan, these pieces are handmade in artisanal workshops around Japan and usually sold in temples or regional souvenir shops. Their history correspond to different believes such as good luck, protection, etc. Popularised in the Edo period (1603-1868), today they suffer a decreased in production. However, new models of craftsmanship and new younger collectors are increasingly interested in Japan as globally.
